Difference between dry etching and wet etching

Many customers ask us whether it is dry etching or wet etching. Etching is a technology to remove materials by chemical reaction or physical impact. Etching can be divided into dry etching and wet etching.

Wet etching is an etching method to peel off the etched substance through the chemical reaction between the chemical etching solution and the etched substance.

The etchant for dry etching is plasma, which reacts with the surface film to form active substances, or directly bombards the surface of the film to corrode it.
